Trade WTI crude oil (CL) and silver (SILVER) with Breakout’s capital, 24/7, at 5x leverage and a $200,000 max position on each. These commodities join the S&P 500, the Nasdaq 100 (XYZ100), and every crypto instrument in the Breakout Terminal.
It’s true: just three days after we added the S&P 500, itself hot on the heels of the Nasdaq 100 (XYZ100), Breakout is listing two new markets that are older than any stock index: WTI crude oil (under the ticker CL) and silver (under SILVER).
Same rules, same order types, and they trade 24/7.
Both are available on the Breakout Terminal only (not DXtrade).
Four new markets inside three weeks is some serious momentum, and we’re not done yet.
How oil and silver work on Breakout
CL tracks West Texas Intermediate crude, the US oil benchmark and the price behind most “oil is up” headlines. SILVER tracks the price of… well, silver. That one is obvious.
No need to clear out your storage space for barrels or bars: in both cases, a position is just a view on the price moving up or down, long or short.
The reason any of this is a big deal is because commodities are normally where session rules bite the hardest.
Prop firms that list them inherit the market’s schedule, so the week ends flat on Friday whether you’re done trading or not.
Not here. CL and SILVER price 24/7 on Breakout: no forced closes, no daily settlement, and nothing stopping you from holding through a weekend or news event. If your read on oil needs a week to play out, give it the week, next to your BTC positions, in one account.
Nothing about your Breakout account changes either: trade with the same daily loss and max drawdown limits you already trade under. Keep 80% of the profits or upgrade to 90%, both paid on-demand, 24/7.
The only major note is that both are listed exclusively on the Breakout Terminal (which is what all new accounts run on anyways).
5x leverage, with a cap sized for the market
Both commodities launch at 5x leverage, the same tier as BTC, ETH, XYZ100 and the S&P500. As with everything on Breakout, the leverage is auto-applied; you never set it yourself.
The maximum position size is $200,000 in notional value per trader, per market. That is deliberately below the $1,000,000 cap on the indexes. Oil and silver are less liquid than the biggest instruments on Breakout, and they move harder; the cap matches the market’s depth.
At 5x, a $50,000 position in either market takes $10,000 of account capital, and the full $200,000 cap takes $40,000, so it is reachable from a $50,000 funded account.
Go in as an informed trader: your daily loss limit does not know the difference between an index and a commodity. Silver has a long record of fast, violent sessions, and oil can gap on a single supply headline. Size that felt comfortable on the S&P500 can spend a day’s allowance in minutes on SILVER, so treat the cap as headroom, not a starting size.
You can check both numbers on the full symbol listing page.
The markets close on Friday. The pricing does not.
Like everything on Breakout, CL and SILVER price around the clock, seven days a week. The commodity markets they track do not. Oil and silver trade nearly round the clock during the week, then wind down on Friday evening US time and stay shut until Sunday evening. Across the weekend, both instruments keep pricing on Breakout through a protected pricing model, and they behave differently while the reference market is closed.
Spreads widen in the quiet windows, so the same size costs more to get into and out of overnight and across the weekend. Both instruments have their own price discovery within the Breakout trading environment, so the price you trade can differ from the quotes you see on third-party platforms, and the gap is usually widest while the underlying market is shut. Commodities add one more wrinkle: news does not wait for the reopen. Supply decisions and geopolitics have a habit of landing on weekends, and the Sunday reopen prices all of it at once. Go smaller in the thin stretches and treat the Sunday reopen with respect.
Common questions
What leverage do CL and SILVER trade at?
5x from day one, the same tier as BTC, ETH, XYZ100 and the S&P500. Leverage is auto-applied across every Breakout instrument; there is no setting to change.
What is the maximum position size?
$200,000 in notional value per trader on each market, deliberately below the $1,000,000 cap on BTC, ETH and the indexes, because oil and silver are less liquid and faster moving. Confirm the live numbers on the full symbol list.
When can I trade them?
24/7 in the Breakout Terminal. The underlying markets run nearly around the clock on weekdays and close from Friday evening to Sunday evening US time, so expect wider spreads and thinner conditions overnight and across weekends.
Which oil is this?
West Texas Intermediate, the US crude benchmark, trading under the ticker CL. It is not Brent, the other widely quoted oil benchmark. The two usually move together, but they are different markets with different prices.
Do I need a new account?
Only if you’re on a DXtrade account.
Otherwise, both markets are already in your Terminal, on evaluation and funded accounts alike.
Oil and silver make four markets beyond crypto on Breakout, all added since the middle of July, and more are coming. New here? Start with how funded trading works, then buy an evaluation when you are ready.
