Breakout After Hours, week of November 3, 2026: the Binance hack, the Nasdaq 100’s worst day since June, election night and gold on Breakout.
Binance lost about $6.3 billion to hackers on Thursday, October 29, the largest crypto hack ever and possibly the largest financial heist in history. You read that right. The FBI attributed the theft to North Korea’s TraderTraitor group on Saturday, October 31, and the group is frankly having a better year than most funds.
Binance froze withdrawals for more than two days, until 6 a.m. UTC on Sunday, November 1. Over 24 hours, more than $1.5 billion in positions were liquidated, about 84% of them longs, and close to a quarter of a million traders found out the hard way what leverage does during a headline. In the first nine and a half hours after withdrawals reopened, customers took out $4.65 billion and deposited $1.01 billion, a net outflow of $3.64 billion by Binance’s own count. Binance says it is absorbing the losses itself.
Tech loses $1 trillion in a day, and Bitcoin holds near $77K
Then on Friday, October 30, the Nasdaq 100 had its worst day since June, and more than $1 trillion in value disappeared from tech stocks. Intel fell nearly 29%, its worst session since 1974. Alphabet, Google’s parent, had its worst day ever the day before. October closed as the Nasdaq’s worst month since March 2025.
Put those together and you get the largest crypto hack in history, a trillion-dollar tech wipeout and Intel’s worst day in 52 years, all inside 48 hours. Bitcoin, which the October 27 edition left parked near $80K, responded by dropping about 5% and sitting near $77K as of November 3, only a few percent above its September 15 low near $75.4K. That is not exactly bullish, but given the week, it is practically heroic.
Election night, Tuesday, November 3
Polls began closing across the US on Tuesday evening, and the midterm results rolled in after the cash market shut. Markets hate uncertainty more than they hate bad news, and this result had been hanging over them for weeks. Once the map settles, hedges come off and volatility tends to deflate, and after a month this ugly, a vol crush might be exactly the exhale stocks and crypto both need. Might. No promises.
Either way, things were bound to move that night. The S&P 500 and the Nasdaq 100 (XYZ100), gold, Bitcoin and Ethereum all trade 24/7 on Breakout, so you can trade the map as it moves while the cash market waits for its open on Wednesday, November 4. Outside cash-market hours, spreads run wider and prices can differ from the index you see on other platforms, so read the S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 guides first.
Gold is live, and non-crypto fees are halved
You asked for two things more than anything else, lower fees and gold, so we shipped both on Thursday, October 29. Trading fees on every non-crypto market dropped from 0.04% to 0.02% per order on Classic, Pro and Turbo accounts. That covers the Nasdaq 100, the S&P 500, WTI crude oil and silver, it applies to the evaluation and funded accounts you already hold, and there is nothing to opt into. Crypto markets stay at 0.04%.
Gold is live under the ticker GOLD, with 5x leverage and a $500,000 maximum position, the biggest cap of any commodity on Breakout. Brent crude, copper at 10x and natural gas, which deserves some respect, listed alongside it. That makes eight non-crypto markets, all now at the lower fee.
